I was not from these parts since 2002 when, in San Giovanni Valdarno, there was a landmark exhibition on Masaccio. And even here, in Figline, there is a Masaccio: the famous, young, Triptych of St Juvenal .
We are in the heart of this Tuscan town, the Praetorian Palace, where he runs a show that sees a series of paintings dating between the thirteenth and fourteenth century.
Among them, the Madonna and Child Enthroned the Master of Magdalene, recently discovered in the cloister of the Monastery of Santa Croce, the works of Niccolò di Segna, Giovanni del Biondo, a glass of Lorenzo, Mariotto di Nardo and Chips, and other talented artists in Tuscany and Umbria.
Just outside the Palace, the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria, the Madonna of the Master of Figline and the church of San Francesco, with fourteenth-century frescoes.
